| At the Throttle Shoot-outs, Santa and Preservation
I recently read a posting on an internet site dedicated to railroad preservation which offered an opinion that museums should not have shoot-outs because they are "hokey" and do a disservice to the museum. As the Executive Director of the most complete steam era railroad complex in the country, I've been struggling with just such issues. Yes, we do feature shoot-outs and we also offer the Polar Express®, both of which could be considered pretty "hokey." This begs the question: How does the featuring of these events mesh with our mission? .

National Briefing 1/29
I painfully regret the devastation that the recent reports have caused to the citizens of Detroit, to my co workers, to the Mayor's family and to my family and friends," Beatty wrote in the letter. Kilpatrick spokesman James Canning said the mayor's office had no comment. There was no immediate response to messages seeking comment from Elliott Hall, a lawyer for Beatty. A prosecutor launched an investigation last week into the allegations, which came to light when the Detroit Free Press reported details of steamy text messages between Beatty and Kilpatrick. A conviction of lying under oath can bring up to 15 years' imprisonment. Both Kilpatrick and Beatty testified in a trial last summer that they did not have a physical relationship in 2002 and 2003, when the messages were reportedly sent.
Conservative commentator William F. Buckley Jr. dies at 82
His prominent family also included his brother James, who became a one-term senator from New York in the 1970s; his socialite wife, Pat, who died in April 2007; and their son, Christopher, the author and satirist ("Thank You for Smoking"). A precocious controversialist, William was but 8 when he wrote to the king of England, demanding payment of the British war debt. After graduating with honors from Yale University in 1950, Buckley married Patricia Alden Austin Taylor, spent a "hedonistic summer" and then excoriated his alma mater for what he regarded as its anti-religious and collectivist leanings in "God and Man at Yale," published in 1951. Buckley spent a year as a low-level agent for the CIA in Mexico, work he later dismissed as boring.
Something besides contract negotiations
He gets a 2 year deal at a reasonable price, $2.5m and if he can prove he can stay healthy and focused for a couple seasons, then payday, here he comes. Good to hear about Enstrom, I was worried about him. He's starting to get knocked around too much. We need 2 pts in Buffablow tonight. Custance/Hossa for John Niyo/Filppula and a 1st (hey, Custance is a heck of a NHL beat guy, fellas, they owe us the 1st as well) .
Understanding Commercial Leases
Your lease is a contract between you and your landlord. A lease can be for a short term (as little as one month) or long term, and it can be written or oral -- although a lease for more than a year must be in writing to be legally enforceable. Some people use the phrase "rental agreement" to describe a short or oral lease for which rent is typically paid once a month and the tenancy can be terminated on a 30-day written notice. To avoid confusion, we'll stick to the word "lease." .
THE PULSE OF ENTERTAINMENT: NAACP Image Awards; Paste magazine; Une ...
39th NAACP Image Awards bring Hollywood's who's who together *My coverage of the 39th NAACP Image Awards started a couple days before the awards show at a luncheon hosted by Tichina Arnold and Tisha Campbell-Martin to announce the nominees and sponsors. So many celebrities of color were on hand to support the NAACP, as well as the nominations. The show, hosted by comedian/actor DL Hughley, was aired live on Fox, Valentine's day, Thursday February 14th, with a melting pot of celebrities in the audience and walking the red carpet. This year the NAACP Image Awards theme was, “stand up and be counted," and they did just that, they “counted" by honoring those nominated and those who won. Stevie Wonder was honored with the Hall of Fame Award, Ruby Dee with the Chairman's Award, and Aretha Franklin the Vanguard Award.
