Beating the odds: New technology helps Whiting woman fight cancer
Pamela Downs-Angotti was told she had had four to eight months to live. She had long been a smoker, but when they found malignant tumors, she didn't want to believe it. Following an urgent call from her doctor, the Whiting woman just took a trip to the grocery store as if all was normal. She didn't even tell her husband, Ron, until the day of her first tests. Downs-Angotti was supposed to be dead nearly four years ago. But thanks in large part to a new technology at The Methodist Hospitals in Merrillville -- stereotactic body radiosurgery -- Downs-Angotti is still alive and for the past 2.5 years has been cancer-free. "I was determined that I was going to do everything I was supposed to do," she said. "It's been my attitude the whole time." She underwent surgery -- waking up to the sensation of pain slicing down her back.
Obama extends streak with wins in Hawaii and Wisconsin

This is bigger than Kennedy. [Obama] comes along, and he seems to have the answers. This is the New Testament." And behold, Obama met them and greeted them. And they came up and took hold of His feet and worshiped Him. The Holy Season of Lent is upon us. Can Obama worshippers try to give up their Helter-Skelter cult-ish qualities for a few weeks? At least until Easter, or the Pennsylvania primary, whichever comes first… - jpt UPDATE: Let me be clear: I'm not saying there shouldn't be enthusiasm in politics. I'm merely touching on the fact that some Obama supporters' exhuberance seems to be getting a little out of hand.
Mamet, Miller, Scorsese and Stones
Not since Clifford Odets has an important American playwright known Hollywood quite so well (or loathed it quite so much) as David Mamet has. In his 1988 satire "Speed-the-Plow" two Hollywood producers offer up a particularly dazzling array of Mametian verbal pyrotechnics focused on the struggle between commerce and culture on the Left Coast. In this new production, the producers are played by two actors with considerable experience of Hollywood themselves: Kevin Spacey and Jeff Goldblum. The Cut, 011-44-870-060-6628, oldvicthe atre.com. 'The Art of Lee Miller' Philadelphia Museum of Art Through April 27 Lee Miller was definitely one of a kind. A great beauty, she became a highly successful fashion model in New York during the '20s, posing for the likes of Edward Steichen and George Hoyningen-Huene.
